September 1st is the opening day of Dove season - it looks like for us in SW Missouri it will be a wet morning. The rain is a little late to help the conditions at the two most popular public hunting areas (Bois D'arc and Robert E. Talbot) as the food plots that were planted earlier this year suffered through the drought like my garden did. This doesn't mean that there won't be Doves at either area, just the they may not be as concentrated in the usual areas. Combined with a wet morning it may make for a little disappointment on opening day - we will see.
If you aren't hitting the opener but going to the lake instead it will still be wet - that may make the fishing even better and keep the usual water hooligans at bay. In either case, be careful and have fun out there.
